Why WOULD YOU OPEN Another BREWERY??
When Happy Valley opened the doors to its northside brewery and taproom in 2020 there were over 90 craft beer breweries operating in QLD. There was also a pesky pandemic going around which would go on to cripple much of the Hospitality industry. So, you might be wondering, why would you open another Brewery?
Once a crane operator, Cheyne’s journey started out as a home brewer enticed by the endless opportunities of experimenting with the flavours of beer. His dream grew from the joy of sharing his weird and wonderful home brew creations with friends and family, who happily trialled each of his brews and ultimately gave him the confidence to build the hobby into a venture - a brewery where he could make the rules (or better yet, ignore them!)
Happy Valley was born in the middle of COVID, constantly dodging the setbacks of lockdowns, council approvals and the regular holdups that come with a new business venture. The eclectic furniture was sourced from a closing down Outback Jacks, the first Murals with Metaphors Lager was brewed up and the doors were opened to Stafford’s Industrial heart.
Now in the third year of trade, Happy Valley has 16 taps of rotating beers, a growing crew of 13 beer lovers, multiple beer awards and even a giant timber grasshopper hanging from the roof (a gift from a superfan.) The brewery is growing fast, upheld by a consistently high- standard of product, a tightly-knit North-Brisbane community and staff that feel like family. But the true engine of Happy Valley is Cheyne’s relentless optimism and belief in the success of the business.
